The National Indigenous Coaching Awards are delivered annually in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada. These awards were developed to recognize the outstanding commitment and contributes of Indigenous coaches to sport in Canada.

As a program of the Aboriginal Sport Circle, the National Indigenous Coaching Awards provide a forum for acknowledging the participation and profile of Indigenous coaches in Canada and their tremendous impact on sport development from community level participation to elite level competition. The Awards include a male and female category.

“The Aboriginal Sport Circle (ASC) is proud to work the Coaching Association of Canada in presenting this important award for the fourth year running. The nominated Indigenous coaches represent achievements that deserve recognition, not only for what they provide to their game, but what they provide to their communities and to Indigenous children, youth and athletes in general. The ASC looks forward to the ceremony in November and celebrating the winners.”

Rob Newman, ASC President

“As a National Coaching Certification Program certified coach, I know first-hand the work and dedication coaching demands. There are many paths that people take to coaching but there is one commonality: passion. The National Indigenous Coaching Awards recognize that passion and celebrate the nominees and winners’ success on the field, in their communities and, most importantly, in the hearts of those they coach. It is a personal honour to be a part of the Aboriginal Sport Circle (ASC) and to work with the Coaching Association of Canada to provide the national recognition these Indigenous coaches so truly deserve.”

Matthew Tapper, Chief Executive Officer, ASC

For the 2022 program year, all nomination packages will be forwarded directly to the Aboriginal Sport Circle, where a National Selection Working Group will determine the national recipients for the male and female category. The two national recipients will be presented their Awards at an awards gala hosted by the Coaching Association of Canada.
