Labour Force Survey, March 2021

Employment rose 303,000 (+1.6%) in March. Combined with an increase of 259,000 (+1.4%) in February, this brought employment to within 1.5% (-296,000) of its February 2020 level. The unemployment rate fell 0.7 percentage points to 7.5%, the lowest level since February 2020.

Detailed preliminary data on confirmed cases of COVID-19, January 15, 2020, to April 4, 2021 (revised data)

An updated set of preliminary data on the number of confirmed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases reported by provincial and territorial public health authorities to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is now available. Along with this dataset are two aggregated tables that summarize the information available in the dataset. The updated information covers the period from January 15, 2020, to April 4, 2021.

Open Database of Educational Facilities, version 2

The second version of the Open Database of Educational Facilities (ODEF) is now available as part of Statistics Canada’s Linkable Open Data Environment (LODE) initiative. The LODE aims to enhance the use, accessibility and harmonization of open microdata from authoritative sources such as governments and professional associations. It also supports collaboration on open data and their use for the production of official statistics and for geospatial research. The current version (version 2.0) of the ODEF contains information on approximately 19,000 educational facilities across Canada, and coverage was enhanced to include all Canada’s provinces and territories.
