The FSIN And Saskatchewan’s Food Banks Continue Partnership

(Saskatoon, SK) The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations staff will use their annual Christmas party as a fundraiser for the all of the Food Banks in Saskatchewan. This year’s FSIN staff Christmas party will be held at the Dakota Dunes Casino Wednesday December 16, 2009. Some of the proceeds from table sales will be donated to Saskatchewan’s Food Banks.“I want to thank the FSIN Staff for their generosity as they help those in need this holiday season. I want to also extend an invitation to the various FSIN Institutions, First Nations and Tribal Councils to join us as we help Saskatchewan’s Food Banks,” says FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild. “During this era of new leadership, the FSIN is focused on helping women, youth, children, seniors and urban First Nations. Our vision is that some day no one will need to rely on a food bank to help their family.”

According to Saskatchewan Food Banks 87 per cent of the people who use their services are of Aboriginal descent.

“The timing of the support could not have been better for all Food Banks in Saskatchewan,” says Paul Merriman CEO of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre. “For the FSIN to be able to open up their Christmas Party to an outside organization and donate some of the proceeds to charity is very heart warming.”

The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre and the Saskatchewan Food Banks are thankful for the ongoing support of the FSIN.
