Todd Russell Re-elected as President of NunatuKavut

HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, LABRADOR, March 31, 2016 – NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) today announced that Todd Russell was re-elected as President by acclamation. This will be Mr. Russell’s 6th term as President.

This follows the release of the official election nomination results. The nomination period closed at 4:30 p.m. AST on March 29.

NCC also welcomes six other nominated candidates who were elected by acclamation to sit on the Governing Council, four of whom are incumbents. The remaining three positions, including Youth Councillor, will be determined by a vote on April 26, 2016. Preliminary results will be released on election day and the official results will be available on May 3.

The current Governing Council’s mandate will end at the close of the election period. The new council will convene prior to the end of May. The term of office is for four years.
