Tribunal finds Millbrook First Nation retaliated against woman involved in fishery – CTV

TRURO, N.S. — A Canadian Human Rights tribunal says a native band in Nova Scotia retaliated against a woman who fought to become a fishing boat captain.

In a recent decision, the tribunal says the Millbrook First Nation interfered with the work Stacey Tabor was doing on a fisheries research team.

It also found the band made it difficult for Tabor to access funding to upgrade her qualifications and education.

The tribunal dismissed several other allegations Tabor made about the band’s treatment of her.
