Hamilton Child and Family Supports says there has been a nearly 34 per cent drop in available foster homes since 2020
There is an “urgent need” for foster caregivers in Hamilton amid a provincewide shortage, Hamilton Child and Family Supports (HCFS) says.
HCFS, formerly the Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton, says there has been a nearly 34 per cent drop in available foster homes since 2020.
This includes some longtime foster caregivers who have retired. The pandemic and changes in life circumstances among potential caregivers has also contributed to the shortage, the child welfare agency says.
