Workshop for Indigenous Peoples on Emerging Issues in Aboriginal Law – First People’s Law

As part of our commitment to defending and advancing Aboriginal title, rights and treaty rights, we are organizing a series of free, half-day workshops across Canada for Indigenous Peoples.

Our first workshop will be in Toronto on the morning of April 20th.

Topics for discussion include:

• What the Tsilhqot’in decision means for Treaty nations;
• The Grassy Narrows decision and provincial responsibility for Treaty rights;
• Towards consent-based consultation; and
• Overlapping claims

Indigenous organizations are welcome to register to attend by emailing rsvp@firstpeopleslaw.com.

Please include participants’ names and organization name.

Due to limited seating, there’s a maximum of two representatives per Indigenous organization.

Deadline for registration is April 4th. There is limited seating so register early.

We’re looking forward to discussing these important issues and helping to identify effective strategies to protect and advance Aboriginal title, rights and treaty rights.
