MMIWG: Media Accreditation and Important Information

The National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls will hear final submissions from Parties with Standing in Ottawa beginning on Monday, December 10, and concluding on Friday, December 14, 2018. The hearings will start at 8:00 am ET Monday, 8:30 am ET the rest of the week and are expected to finish at 5:00 pm ET each day.

All media attending the event must have an accreditation card to enter the room and a colour coded lanyard which will be provided to you and which must be visible at all times. It does not provide access to private hearings rooms, or to rooms where the health team or other staff are located.

WHO IS ENTITLED TO PRESS ACCREDITATION? Accreditation is granted only to journalists (reporters, columnists, photographers, documentary filmmakers, etc.) who cover the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, 2SLGBTQQIA people or survivors of violence. Journalists must represent a recognized media outlet. YouTubers, bloggers or those involved with the blogosphere will not be granted accreditation. To obtain your media accreditation, please fill out the form below.

RESTRICTIONS: Accreditation does not authorize media to take photographs or images using devices such as cameras, smartphones or hand-held cameras inside the event room(s). Only official National Inquiry video cameras, the media pool camera and an on-line media camera will be permitted to record inside.

There may be an opportunity to take photos of the Commissioners at the beginning of the hearing. Media will be seated in a specific area within the room. A buffer zone, around certain areas of the location, will be reserved for families and people involved in the Inquiry. A map will be provided and we would ask that those areas be respected.
