20th annual festival set for July 16, 17
SCUGOG ISLAND — The traditions, sounds and culture of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation will be on display this month when the 20th annual traditional pow wow is held.
The First Nation celebration will be held July 16 and 17 at the pow wow grounds at the Scugog Island First Nation administration building, 22521 Island Rd., approximately one kilometre north of the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino.
The event will kick off both mornings with sunrise ceremonies, which members of the public are welcome to attend. Women are asked to wear long skirts for the sunrise ceremonies.
