Key updates on COVID-19 in the region
Apr 09, 2021
What’s the latest?
Southern Ontario hospitals are joining those in the Outaouais and cancelling non-emergency surgeries because of the strain caused by the pandemic’s third wave.
The City of Ottawa says in a memo that it doesn’t have an adequate supply of vaccine to begin inoculating residents age 50-54 who live in neighbourhoods identified as high-priority, even though the province has now expanded eligibility to include that group.
The National Capital Commission is again closing vehicle traffic along its two Ottawa River parkways, citing the province’s stay-at-home order and unseasonably warm weather.
City and public health officials are expected to speak at 1 p.m. ET. There’s a federal update before that.
