Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students (FANS) introduces new part-time study grant

Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students (FANS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new part-time study grant, starting in fall 2022. This grant is designed to assist students in completing their part-time programs.

To be eligible for the part-time study grant, a student must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Be accepted for registration in a program of studies at an approved institution as a part-time student;
  • Have been ordinarily a resident of Nunavut for a continuous period of one year immediately before the date of acceptance for registration; and
  • Not be receiving a basic grant at the time of application.

Non-Nunavut Inuit may be eligible for a part-time study grant with the following stipulation:

  • Students are eligible for a part-time study grant for a maximum of four academic years, minus the number of academic years during which they received a basic grant.
  • Students’ years of eligibility for a basic grant are decreased by the number of academic years in which a student receives a part-time study grant.
  • Please note that this impact on eligibility restrictions does not apply to Nunavut Inuit.

The part-time study grant is intended to cover the cost of tuition, books, and fees up to a maximum of $4,943 per academic year. This grant does not cover costs for living expenses or travel.

To apply for the part-time study grant, visit www.gov.nu.ca/education/fans.
