We are pleased to announce that ITK is developing an Inuit Knowledge Centre. There is a need for a centralized, authoritative place of Inuit knowledge that can be utilized by Inuit, researchers and policy makers.Key focus areas of the Inuit Knowledge centre are:

Monitoring and Reporting: collection and analysis of data and knowledge about Inuit.

Knowledge Exchange: a portal through which advice could be obtained on shaping research proposals to Inuit needs and concerns, as well as helping researchers with knowledge interpretation.

Regional Research Support and Network Building: serve as the focus for linking regional research networks and expertise between research groups and Inuit communities and increasing their capacity to lead research programs.

Public Education: promote the legitimacy of Inuit knowledge and the use of the Inuit languages in research projects from the formation of research questions, to data collection, analysis and publication of findings.

Research Policy: focus on developing, testing and communicating appropriate and effective research design and methodologies that are effective for working with and researching Inuit.

Research: undertake a consultation process leading to the development of an annual Inuit research plan and grant funds for projects in support of this plan.
