The cost of the purchase was not disclosed, but the farm had previously been listed for $1.8 million.
Nanoose First Nation has announced that they will be purchasing a farm in Lantzville near its reserve which they plan to use to grow food and practise cultural activities.
Snaw-Naw-As First Nation Chief Brent Edwards said the purchase will create good jobs close to home and allow for the nation to reconnect with its traditional growing practices.
“Our ancestors farmed these lands for generations; today we honour that legacy in a modern way,” he said in a statement.
