The Milton Public Library (MPL) is inviting the community to a special event next month as it closes the Medicine Learning Garden with a traditional Indigenous ceremony and honours the contributions of its volunteers.
The ceremony will include reflection, song, knowledge sharing, and the burning of sage to recognize the garden’s role as a place of community learning.
As part of the program, historian and author Jane Thomas will speak about the ongoing impact of federal health policies on Indigenous peoples, while local artist Brent Beauchamp will officially unveil the Indigenous Bee logo he designed for MPL. The unveiling will also mark the opening of MPL’s new Indigenous Reading Nook, a dedicated space to highlight Indigenous voices, culture, and perspectives.
