NTI: Orange Shirt Distribution
(September 24, 2025 – Iqaluit/Rankin Inlet, Nunavut) In advance of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation (September 30th) Nunavut Tunngavik will be distributing Orange T-Shirts in youth sizes to commemorate survivors of residential schools, while celebrating the beauty of our children and culture.
The orange t-shirts this year were designed by Arviat multi-media artist Nooks Lindell, of Hinaani Design. “The Butterfly concept represents beauty and transformation. The Inuk in the middle is inspired by my Anaanatsiaq and her style of drawing. She often spoke about Inunnguinniq and the importance of raising children to be whole human beings,” said Nooks. “Being a whole human as an Inuk means learning about Inuit culture.”
NTI Staff will be distributing the T-Shirts at the Iqaluit and Rankin Inlet offices on Friday, September 26th starting at 10:00am local time, until quantities last. Cambridge Bay t-shirts have already been distributed.
