First Nations Leading the Way 7

Join us November 26 – 28, 2024 at the Edmonton Convention Centre in Edmonton, Alberta

Mark your calendars for this highly anticipated annual gathering and learn about First Nations across Canada moving beyond the Indian Act through First Nations-led initiatives.

Be prepared to be moved, inspired, and uplifted as we come together to recognize the hurdles and achievements of First Nations. Immerse yourself in insightful panel discussions, stories of success and practical innovations, breakout sessions, indigenous tradeshow, and more!

The First Nations Finance Authority (FNFA), First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB), First Nations Tax Commission (FNTC), First Nations Infrastructure Institute (FNII), and the Lands Advisory Board (LAB) invite two representatives, Chief, Councillor, or a member of senior staff, from an Indian Act First Nation or Modern Treaty Nation to attend.

Stronger together

First Nations Leading the Way is an opportunity to network with key leaders and influencers from First Nations that are leading the way in establishing governance systems beyond the Indian Act and Modern treaties, and to learn more about:

  • The future of fiscal relations with Canada
  • Expanded First Nations tax jurisdiction
  • Accessing global capital markets for your First Nation
  • Financial Management Certifications
  • 10-Year Grants
  • Land Registry

Nominate a youth or Elder delegate

This year, Nations are invited to also nominate a youth and Elder as a representative from their Nation to attend the conference in Edmonton. This is an opportunity for youth and Elders to learn more about the FMA institutions and Lands Advisory Board, hear inspiring success stories, and bring a voice and vision to discussions around First Nations’ economic development. Travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed after the event. Please note that we can only accommodate 25 Youth and 25 Elders in-person from across Canada. All other nominations will be invited to attend virtually.

On behalf of the FNFA, FNII, FNTC, LAB and FMB we look forward to seeing you on November 26-28, 2024.

Our registration portal will open shortly. Stay tuned!
