DATES: June 2-4, 2025

LOCATION: Winnipeg, MB

VENUE: RBC Convention Centre

Led by First Nations, Inuit and Metis thought leaders, a three-day gathering to understand, promote and share Indigenous histories.

Knowledge Sharing Streams:

  • Indigenous Culture and Language
  • Reflecting on the TRC’s Legacy
  • Sharing Stories

The Indigenous History & Heritage Gathering (IHHG) is a platform for Residential School Survivors, Inter-generational Survivors, Indigenous storytellers, keepers of knowledge, and community members developing history and heritage projects to come together and engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, and contribute to the preservation, understanding, and appreciation of Indigenous history and heritage.

Similarly, cultural professionals, language experts, historians, corporate representatives, Indigenous community liaisons, legal teams, media, scholars with a residential school focus, government employees, and anyone involved in researching Indigenous histories and presenting and incorporating an inclusive heritage will see practical examples of successful contemporary history and heritage projects in Indigenous communities and have the opportunity to learn from Indigenous heritage and cultural professionals.

Ten Years Since the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action:

June 2025 marks a decade since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission presented the 94 Calls to Action, setting a foundation for reconciliation between Canadians and Indigenous Peoples. IHHG will serve as an essential space to reflect on the progress made since June 2015, and provide an invaluable opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue, explore our shared histories, and commit to building a better future rooted in respect, understanding, and reconciliation.
