Carpenter
Anderson First Rate-Contracting Inc., located at #3 11443 Kingston Street, Maple Ridge, BC V2X0Y6, is currently recruiting a full-time Carpenter with painting experience to start as soon as possible. These are full-time, permanent positions working an average of 40 hours per week. The successful candidates must be able to communicate fluently in English and must have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Carpenter as well as painting experience. The salary range is $34.62 per hour. The successful candidates will have good knowledge of woodwork and wood products, experience with carpentry tools and equipment, experience with applying sealers and paint, knowledge of building code as it relates to construction/renovation good communication skills. The company offers benefits after a 3-month of probationary period.
Job description:
- Fabricate, construct, and repair structural woodwork and wood products by following blueprints, drawings, and oral instructions.
- Produce carpentry products and services by following standards and procedures; measuring results against standards; and making necessary adjustments.
- Determine material requirements and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated by studying blueprints, sketches, or building plans.
- Maintain carpentry supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Prepare layout by following carpentry procedures for fabrication of counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, and building framework and trim, using a rule, a framing square, and calipers.
- Construct, repair, and install structures or fixtures by marking, cutting, and assembling lines on materials; shaping materials to measurements; assembling and fastening cut and shaped materials; using carpenter’s hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
- Ensure construction quality by verifying the trueness of the structure with a plumb bob, carpenter’s level, and other measurements.
- Comply with federal, provincial, and local building codes by adhering to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Prepare and maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and be respectful of property.
- Conserve carpentry resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Ensures operation of carpentry equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Provide carpentry information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintain continuity among carpentry work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Apply sealer and paint to surfaces as required.
- Follow instructions and complete jobs set out by your supervisor.
- Read and understand the Scope of Work.
- Report daily to the Operations Manager.
- Must ensure all paperwork has the proper job number provided by the Production / Scheduling Department.
Education and Training Required:
- Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Carpenter.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of painting experience.
- Utilize basic math.
- Must be available to work overtime when required.
- The job is physically demanding (must be able to lift at least 50+ pounds).
- Must have own tools and safety equipment.
- Must have Fall Protection Ticket.
- Must have valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
- Driver’s license abstract required.
