JOB SUMMARY: The Climbing Arborist & Truck Driver Reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Roads Foreman.

To assist the Public Works Department and/or the Roads Department of Public Works in the performance of the operation services as related to the Six Nations Roads Department.

To seasonally assist the Roads Foreman or designate in the Management of vegetation maintenance operations and tree trimming activities as well as maintenance services and implementation of various capital projects for the Six Nations Roads Department within the policies and procedures established by the Six Nations of the Grand River for the Public Works Department.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Arborist
  • Minimum 5-year tree trimming experience.
  • Minimum 1 year climbing experience.

Must be Certified in the following:

  • Modern Tree Climbing Systems
  • Production Tree Removal and Rigging
  • Arborist Technical Rigging
  • Chainsaw
  • Working from Heights
  • Must have valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s License.
  • Successful candidate expected to obtain Valid Class “DZ” Driver’s license within 12 months.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must have a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance practices an asset.
  • Ability to pass a police clearance\security check.
  • Possess initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exhibit good organizational skills and ability to take direction.
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions and/or implements solutions. Must be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
