JOB SUMMARY: The CHS Project Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Community Health Survey (Onkwehón:we Health Check-In) research activities. This will consist primarily of completing electronic surveys with participants and assisting where needed in other PP & E research projects. This survey project will support the identification of health trends as well as determinants of health within the community. The project will significantly contribute to the planning of service provision to the community and where advocacy for additional resources needs to take place.
Reports to and receives supervision from the Community Health Survey (CHS) Project Manager, and functional supervision from the CHS Community Engagement Coordinator or the Epidemiologist.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong knowledge of and experience working with the Six Nations community, with preference to community members
- Demonstrated understanding of community, and culture at Six Nations
- Highschool graduation diploma
- Some post-secondary education in health, social work, or a science related field; or equivalent education and experience
- Interest in research and learning about Indigenous research
- Familiarity with Microsoft office, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook
- Must be comfortable with using a variety of technology and mobile devices (Android tablet)
- Understands the importance of Privacy and Confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Enjoys talking to people, can demonstrate politeness, tact, sensitivity, maturity, and compassion
- Must have a valid Class G driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be willing to work from different locations within approximate 40 km radius of Ohsweken (Ohsweken, Hamilton, Brantford, etc.)
- Must pass criminal record check (Vulnerable Sector)
- Must be willing to wear PPE (mask) for protection of participants and self when requested
Other Related Skills:
- Previous experience in a Research Assistant role or similar an asset
- Experience in trauma-informed research is considered an asset
- Must have, or be willing to obtain TCPS2 and/or OCAP certification or other training
- Strong awareness of behaviour cues which may signal participant distress
- Good verbal, and written communication skills
