JOB SUMMARY: Reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director of Data Analytics & Insights

The Community Research Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all research studies that take place within the Six Nations of the Grand River territory. Expectations are to support the Executive Director of Data Analytics & Insights, the Six Nations Research Ethics Committee and the SNGR Executive Leadership Team in the development of organization-wide research priorities, proposals, overseeing and supporting research activities, and working with and identifying research investigators to carry out aspects of community-driven research priorities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements:

  • University Degree with a strong research focus, with a Master’s degree or higher preferred

AND

  • 3+ years of experience in conducting or guiding research work with a First Nations community or organization

Other Related Skills:

  • Strong understanding of research protocols and research methods
  • Experience with health research and working with health-related datasets
  • Understanding of statistical techniques commonly used in health and social research
  • Knowledge and experience with designing and implementing a wide variety of research methodologies including Indigenous research methodologies
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues of First Nations research, data, and information governance
  • Experience working both independently and in a team oriented collaborative environment
  • Training in OCAP considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills, which includes data entry
  • In-depth understanding of data management (e.g., permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)
  • Knowledge of best practices for data reporting
  • An understanding of health equity, including the social determinants of health and their impacts on health outcomes for Indigenous populations
  • A strong population health lens in all work
  • Knowledge of working with various statistical packages an asset, but not mandatory
  • Highly skilled with Microsoft Office applications, including proficiency with Power Bi
  • Skilled in using Databases and Analytical Software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and escalate issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Excellent research skills, to ensure the most cutting-edge data reporting and analysis
  • An ability to work respectfully and professionally with others
  • Understands the importance of Confidentiality and an ability to work with tact and discretion
  • Knowledge of the Six Nations community, culture and history
  • Must submit a favorable criminal reference check screening
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours
