Cultural Events Coordinator

Wikwemikong Heritage Organization

The Wikwemikong Heritage Organization is responsible for providing, promoting, and exploring those needs that will help instill the native cultural heritage within our community. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to work with our team as the Cultural Events Coordinator to organize among other things WUT’s 2025 annual cultural festival.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for planning the 2025 Wiikwemkoong Annual Cultural Festival (WACF)
  • Initiate fundraising opportunities by targeting grant agencies, soliciting corporate sponsorships, etc.
  • Pursue partnership development opportunities within the industry
  • Coordinate and confirm vendor registrations and vendor map layout
  • Work with WUT Tourism’s Arts and Events Coordinator to carry out a detailed marketing campaign
  • Proactively engage, assess and provide support to the WACF committee
  • Coordinate and oversee volunteers and workers for the 2024 WACF
  • Organize WACF committee meetings including venues, agendas, and minutes

Qualifications

  • A combination of work experience and education will be considered.
  • Must be able to speak/understand the Anishinabe language, or willing to learn
  • Familiarity with the history, culture and language of the Three Fires Confederacy and the community of Wikwemikong and the Pow-wow circuit
  • Prior experience coordinating Pow Wows is preferred but not required
  • Must be able to work independently, and be a team player
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle

Salary:  $58,947.00
