Custodian
Oshkiigmong Early Learning Centre

The purpose of this position is to provide cleaning and maintenance services for Early Learning Centre properties and buildings and to provide a safe, healthy and clean environment for Early Learning Centre Staff and Children.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Discusses plans and schedules with the Early Learning Centre Services Coordinator
  • Provides cleaning and maintenances services for Early Learning Centre properties and buildings, including, but not limited to, the care and cleaning of all surfaces and service facilities; waste collection and disposal; window washing; painting; roof inspection; and minor repairs
  • Provides outside maintenance of grounds, gardens, parking lots, ramps, steps, and sidewalks on a year-round basis including but not limited to grass cutting, raking and fertilization; parking lot cleaning and minor repairs; litter/garbage collection and disposal; de-icing, snow shoveling, snow removal, and sanding/salting
  • Services and repairs equipment
  • Responsible for adherence to occupational health and safety procedures
  • Performs such other related duties as may reasonably be required by the Manager of Early Learning
  • Fire Safety Procedures – Checking all fire extinguishers
  • Order supplies for stock
  • Pick up grocery order
  • Van maintenance
  • Checking water softeners
  • Work as a team with other Custodians
  • Courteous and aware of public safety at all times
  • Ensures that occupational, health and public safety regulations are adhered to at all times

QUALIFICATIONS: Basic Requirements: {APPLICANTS MUST SHOW NECESSARY PROOF WITH APPLICATION OR WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SCREENED OUT)

Education & Experience:

  • Ability to maintain and make minor repairs to operating equipment.
  • Ability to operate cleaning, gardening and snow removal equipment; knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures.

OELC CUSTODIAN

  • Exhibits a high degree of initiative and self-direction.
  • Demonstrates initiative, good judgment and is in good physical condition.
  • Has an understanding of occupational health and safety requirements and procedures.
  • Good public relations skills, including an appreciation of the need for tact and a positive, cheerful and informed approach to the public.
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Current WHMIS Certificate
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Schedule duties for after-hours cleaning
  • Ability to lift heavy objects

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a Full-Time permanent position beginning immediately. Annual salary range for this position is $40,973 – $43,704 based on 39.5 hours work week.
