- Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.): Hairstylist Licence
- Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
- Personal Suitability: Reliability, team player, efficient interpersonal skills, client focus, dependability
Tasks:
- Advise clients on beauty care treatments;
- Analyze hair and scalp condition;
- Cut and trim hair according to client’s instructions or preferences;
- Provide custom hair and scalp treatment;
- Shampoo customers’ hair;
- Shave and trim beards and mustaches;
- Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair;
- Apply hair extensions;
- Provide other hair treatments, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages;
- Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair;
- Suggest hair style compatible with client’s physical features and preferences
Hair Styling Techniques: Blow drying, Iron waving/curling, Permanents, Roller setting
Hair Colouring Techniques: Bleach, Dyes/tints, Frosting, Streaking/highlights
Work Setting: Hairstyling salon; urban area
Work Site Environment: Noisy, odours
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environments; Repetitive tasks; Attention to detail; Standing for extended periods; Risks of slip and fall injuries; Use of electrical tools; Use of sharp objects, Use of chemical products
