Job Description

• Saba Construction is a leading single-family home, luxury custom homes and multi-family homes builder and developer in British Columbia. We have employment opportunity for 02 Heavy Equipment Operators.
• Main duties
• Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials during construction
• Performing pre- and post-operational inspections are an important part of ensuring the machine is prepared and safe for daily operations
• Identify faulty components and fault codes in order to explain problem to service personnel or to order parts. Report extent of problem to supervisor to determine how production, safety, and work place will be affected
• Review site plan and/or demolition plan, and visually inspect the work area on a continual basis to identify potential hazards such as ground conditions, overhead hazards, proximity to obstructions, pedestrian and vehicle traffic
• Complete forms such as time sheets, pre- and post-operational inspection checklists, health and safety forms, and injury, illness or incident reporting forms
• Maintain and Lubricate heavy equipment components such as throttle pedal, door hinges and seat
• Top up fluids as needed according to manufacturers’ specifications
• Operate heavy paving and surfacing equipment to lay, spread or compact concrete, asphalt and other surface materials during construction
• Troubleshoot instruments for failures, Inspect equipment for deficiencies or damage such as cuts, tears, wear and fraying before each use and according to manufacturers’ specifications
• Operate power shovels to excavate rock, ore or other materials from construction pits
• Operate heavy equipment to move, load and unload construction material
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill equipment
• Wear PPE such as hard hats, safety boots, eye protection, reflective clothing and hearing protection according to site and company policies and safety regulations
• Driving company equipment on roads, if needed

Employment requirements

• Completion of secondary school education is required.
• More than 1 year of experience in the trade is required or Trade certification for heavy equipment operator can replace the experience requirement. Trade certification for heavy equipment operator will be an asset to have, but not mandatory.
• Basic communication skills in oral and written English.
• Good eye-hand coordination, mechanical aptitude, alertness and safety consciousness.

Benefits

As per mutual agreement and BC Employment standards act 4% vacation pay of the gross salary will be paid each pay period with 10 days of unpaid vacation time or option to choose 10 days of paid vacation with no vacation pay with gross salary. Transportation to and from the job location is provided at free of cost in company vehicle.
