Homemaker (2 positions)
Wellness Building / Client Homes
The purpose of this position is to assist Home and Community Care clients with shopping needs by providing client with regular scheduled trips, socialization through friendly visiting and implementing programming to alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation and to provide non-medical support care services when necessary.
The duties and responsibilities of this position are:
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients of the Home and Community Care program through friendly visits to help combat feelings of loneliness and isolation.
- Regularly visit clients in their homes and hospital as needed
- Engage in conversation, reading, baking, playing games and sharing stories with clients
- Respect the privacy and personal boundaries of the individual they visit.
- Report any concerns or changes in the individual’s health or wellbeing to the Home and Community Care Team
- Work in coordination with health care providers, staff, and family members.
- Adhere to all required health and safety protocols, such as hand hygiene and wearing personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Plan and prepare relevant programming on an ongoing basis.
- Pick up clients who might not otherwise be able to attend the programming.
- Ensure that programming is appropriate by communicating regularly with participants to ensure needs are being met and interests are relevant Attend scheduled training sessions and Home and Community Care meetings, reviews, and case conferences.
- Must be able to safely operate a vehicle and able to transport clients on prearranged trips safely
- Ensure that the vehicle remains in good working condition, is clean and free of garbage and following the maintenance schedules.
- Interacting professionally with clients
- Other duties as directed/required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Basic Requirements: (APPLICANTS MUST SHOW NECESSARY PROOF WITH APPLICATION OR WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SCREENED OUT)
EDUCATION:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or two years related experience.
- Minimum one year experience in the health care field.
OTHER RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 25 years or older to be able to drive Curve Lake First Nation vehicles.
- Valid Class G driver’s license is required.
- Demonstrated leadership and organization skills.
- Compassionate, emphatic, reliable and patient.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be in good health and physically fit.
- Must have current First Aid/CPR Level C or willingness to obtain.
- Food Handler’s Certificate or willingness to obtain.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a Full-Time Permanent position for 39.5 hours a week beginning immediately. Annual salary range for this position is $40,012 – $42,680.
