Canstar Restorations located at 78 Fawcett Rd, Coquitlam, BC V3K 6V5 is looking for an IT Support Technician to provide IT support including installing and configuring of software and hardware, setting up new user accounts, work stations, troubleshooting issues and outages for new and existing employees. This is a full-time, year-round position working 40 hours per week. The salary is $36.60 per hour. Benefits include extended medical and dental, RRSP matching, LTD, AD&D, Employee and Family Assistance Program and industry-related tuition reimbursement (50% – 100% of tuition costs. We require candidates who have 1-2 years years experience as Technical Support Specialist or equivalent experience/education.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide business application, network and Internet support to users in response to identified difficulties
  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software
  • Set up user accounts and workstations
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Maintain inventory of hardware in-house
  • Shipping of hardware to customers/sites
  • Communicate electronically and in person with computer users experiencing difficulties to determine and document problems experienced
  • Consult user guides, technical manuals and other documents to research and implement solutions
  • Provide advice and training to users in response to identified difficulties
  • Manage all network hardware and equipment, including switches, firewall, VPN, and patch panels
  • Ensure that self and others adhere to Canstar’s health and safety practices and procedures
  • Ensure good housekeeping is kept to perform work safely and efficiently
  • Understand safety policies and protocols
  • Ensure that self and others on site are wearing all required PPE, when required

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience working as a Technical Support Specialist or equivalent experience/education
  • Technical diploma or university degree in the field of MIS (relevant experience in lieu of education will be considered)
  • Strong working knowledge of O365, mobile device management, and cloud infrastructure
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows 10 and 11
  • Good technical knowledge and working experience in IT policies, standards, processes, and procedures, network architecture, and identity and access management
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize incidents and tasks effectively
  • Working knowledge of Android phones and iPhones
  • Experience with RingCentral is an asset
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies, situations, and expectations
  • Ability to relate to and guide users in adapting to new technologies
