Job Duties:

• May perform the same duties as workers supervised
• Direct planting of trees, gardens and lawns
• Hire, supervise and schedule staff
• Organize planting of trees, gardens and lawns
• Resolve work problems by providing technical advice to increase the value and functionality of a property
• Schedule events, programs and activities
• Schedule work
• Plan and direct grounds maintenance
• Plan and estimate labour and materials
• Organize and direct construction of decks and decorative or retaining walls
• Plan, manage and supervise landscape construction work
• Maintain work records and logs
• Tender and administer contracts
• Read blueprints and drawings
• Repair and maintain equipment
• Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies
• Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality

Requirements

Education: Completion of secondary school education is required.

A college diploma, specialized courses OR industry-related training and certification in landscaping and horticulture is an asset.

Experience: At least two years of experience as a landscape or horticulture supervisor or as a landscape or horticulture technician are required, including previous experience as a landscape labourer.

Supervision: 5 – 10 people

Salary: $34.07 hourly, 30 – 40 hours per week

Important Information: The worker will work 6 to 9.5 hours per day, which will be scheduled within the business operating hours from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., from Monday to Friday. The schedule includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and a 15-minute paid coffee break. Flexibility on schedule is required as some days may start earlier, and others finish later depending on the business needs and weather conditions. Overtime and occasional weeknight work may be required depending on the business needs. *We guarantee at least 30 hours of work per week regardless of the weather*
