Legacy Development Trust – General Manager Job Posting
Job Description: The successful candidate should have administrative experience;
preferably working with a non-profit charitable organization or trust. The successful
candidate should also be familiar with First Nations’ culture and customs and comfortable
in a professional, team setting. Hours are flexible but may include a few hours on occasional
weekends.
Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Blueberry River First Nations Community Trust
Trustees, the General Manager will support the Trustees in effectively administering the
Trust Agreement. The General Manager will be responsible for meeting the goals and
objectives of the Community Trust in the following areas:
Administration:
- Providing assistance to Trustees in the strategic planning process.
- Co-ordinating Trust meetings, elections, and community meetings.
- Preparing Minutes/summaries/notices of all investment decisions and
- Trustees decisions for community viewing and reporting
- Co-ordinating meetings for project reviews.
Reporting/Communications:
- Keep on going communication open and prepare updates for the community members both on/off reserve through community newsletters,
various aboriginal organizational websites. - Preparing and distributing all investment reports.
- Liaising with professional advisors and auditors, legal counsel, First Nation
Council and community members. - Communicating investment policies decisions to investment advisors.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Blueberry River First
Nations Community Trust Trustees.
Accounting:
- Preparing and maintaining all accounting functions pertaining to the Trust.
(QuickBooks) - Preparing annual budgets
- Assisting with annual audit
Finance:
- Ensuring Trustees meet ongoing responsibilities pertaining to the Blueberry
- River First Nations’ Community trust agreement.
- Ensuring compliance with Trust Agreement.
- Co-ordinating Trustee decisions on investment policies.
- Liaising with investment advisors.
- Reviewing project proposals and preparing/presenting summary for
Trustees and/or Band Council.
- Developing and ensuring compliance with Trust guidelines for projects.
- Ensuring monies distributed are used in accordance with Trust guidelines.
Statement of Qualification:
- Minimum 3-5 years of management experience
- Preferred: Experience working within a First Nation setting.
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma and/or designation in business,
accounting or public administration. - Knowledge of investment business and general trust an asset.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Efficient computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and
accounting software. - Website Maintenance (WordPress)
- Must be bondable,
- Must Provide CPIC and Bankruptcy Check
Remuneration:
Commensurate with experience.
Term:
- Expected: varying fulltime and part-time needs
- Service contract: 2 years
