Job Summary:

The caregiver hired for this position will provide in-home assistance and personal support for the elderly mother of the two employers, one of whom resides with the care recipient. This is a full-time position with an immediate start date.

The care recipient’s household includes one of the employers and their husband. Optional live-in housing is available at no cost but is not required for employment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide in-home care for the female senior care recipient with chronic health conditions in the employer’s Richmond Hill residence;
• Attend to care recipient’s physical and emotional wellbeing;
• Assist the care recipient with daily activities and attend to her daily routine;
• Ensure that the care recipient’s living environment is safe, clean, and organized;
• Help the care recipient’s with mobility and help her navigate her living spaces;
• Prepare and cook meals for the care recipient and assist in feeding;
• Conduct personal hygiene tasks for the care recipient, including bathing, dressing and undressing, and grooming;
• Launder the care recipient’s clothes and wash and sterilize all medical and feeding supplies;
• Administer medication for the care recipient and perform other healthcare duties when needed;
• Purchase food, personal hygiene items, medication, and other necessities for the care recipient when required;
• Regularly communicate updates on status of the care recipient to the employers;
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• Partial completion of secondary school is required;
• Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in nursing, home support, or a related field is an asset;
• Prior experience in caring for elders is strongly preferred;
• Fluency in written and verbal English is required;
• Must be dependable, reliable, and have effective communication skills;
• Must be organized and adapt well to fast-paced environments.
