What you will be doing
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring programs, services, and initiatives align with the organization’s mission. This role focuses on optimizing processes, improving systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support growth and success, while working closely with senior leadership to drive continuous organization improvement and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and refine operational workflows, systems, and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
- Represent the organization as a professional ambassador by attending events, building relationships with funders, partners, and stakeholders, and fostering strong networks that support organizational objectives.
- Manage logistics, facilities, and organizational resources to ensure they align with strategic priorities and support operational goals.
- Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, and day-to-day financial management, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with the finance team to track expenses, monitor financial performance, and implement sound financial practices.
- Provide comprehensive operational support for programs, including staffing, resource allocation, and logistical coordination to ensure smooth program delivery.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and best practices throughout the organization.
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives by offering operational insights and leadership, ensuring that operational activities align with long-term goals.
- Implement systems to monitor progress toward strategic objectives and support organizational growth.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and nonprofit best practices while identifying and mitigating potential operational risks.
- Monitor and evaluate organizational processes, recommending improvements to enhance overall operational performance and sustainability.
What you bring
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
Experience and Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in operations management, ideally within an Indigenous organization, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit practices, including budgeting, financial management, and operational oversight.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective systems and processes to enhance organizational efficiency.
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and engage others.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilitiles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
