Registered Early Childhood Educator

Supervisor: Early Years Director

Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday, rotating shifts weekly between 7:30am-5:30pm

Position Summary:

Are you a passionate educator who believes in fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and high-quality early learning environment? Join the team at Enji Maajtaawaad Early Years, where we provide care that reflects our mission and core values, honouring children’s right to connect with their ancestral language, Anishinaabemowin. As a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), you will play a pivotal role in delivering play-based, developmentally appropriate programs while celebrating and integrating Anishinaabe culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Plan and implement inclusive, play-based activities that reflect children’s interests and are rich in Anishinaabemowin.
  • Child Engagement: Foster children’s sense of security and belonging through respectful and nurturing interactions.
  • Collaboration: Build positive relationships with families, colleagues, and community professionals to support each child’s development.
  • Assessment & Documentation: Observe, document, and assess children’s learning to enhance individual and group development.
  • Environment Design: Create safe, stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments that encourage exploration and self-regulation.
  • Professional Growth: Participate in ongoing professional development, including Anishinaabemowin learning and monthly assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution.
  • Registration: Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Cultural Knowledge: Proven ability or willingness to learn Anishinaabemowin, with pre-requisite mastery of 20 phrases. Proficiency is considered an asset.

Certifications:

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within 6 months).
  • Up-to-date immunization record.
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate (asset).
  • B, E, or F driver’s license (asset).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs frequently, with regular bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Preference: Hiring preference will be given to Indigenous candidates; please self-identify in your application.
  • Criminal Record Check: Successful candidates must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check. Employment contingent on record check.
