As outlined in the Curve Lake First Nation Human Resource Management Manual, applications are now being accepted for the following Full Time Permanent Part-time position:

Student Success Facilitator
Curve Lake School / Administration Building

The purposes of this position are to:

  • Facilitate learning programs with students to encourage and promote success
  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with students and faculty to support students and enhance their success
  • To deliver research based best practices and quality programming or the Education Department within the administrative policies and procedures established by the organization and as directed by the Student Success Coordinator
  • To provide support for the student success initiatives including literacy, numeracy and student retention.

The duties and responsibilities of this position are categorized into two main functions:

1. Student Success

  • Work in close collaboration with the Manager of Student Success, Principal
  • Establish and sustain student relationships by maintaining on-going communication with students and staff.
  • Assisting the school with all program related academic issues, responding to enquiries between sessions, aligning appropriate resources etc.
  • Responsible for assisting Teachers in structured and scheduled classroom literacy and numeracy program delivery including meetings, P.D., In-Service etc. as needed.
  • Responsible for development and/or delivery of numeracy and literacy activities for families
  • Responsible for assisting the Manager of Student Success at the CLFN School in researching, acquiring, developing and/or preparation of teaching materials to support literacy and numeracy enhancement
  • Responsible for the facilitation and delivery of the Trent Community Reading Tutors Program.
  • Responsible for the organization of book fairs
  • Responsible for the completion of student literacy and numeracy assessments required.

2. Administration

  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of academic student records and updating as required
  • Prepare, execute, and collate feedback for evaluations related to programs
  • Order books and other learning materials; transports or arranges to have materials delivered
  • Arranges instructional technical updates, supplies, and logistical support as required
  • Arranges completion celebration for the final session of each program
  • Liaise with other members of the school to ensure student success objectives are met
  • Using independent judgement to interpret procedures, practices to determine the appropriate application
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Student Success

QUALIFICATIONS: (APPLICANTS MUST SHOW NECESSARY PROOF WITH APPLICATION OR WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SCREENED OUT)

Education & Experience:

The incumbent to this position will meet the minimum requirements that include:

  • Bachelor of Education
  • Early Childhood Education, Education Assistant or comparable Diploma will be considered with recent relevant experience.

RATED REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to develop educational programs and services
  • Experience of school success planning systems and tools, student learning assessments, and performance measurement systems
  • 2-3 years’ experience may be required
  • Skills in preparing reports and making presentations
  • An understanding of planning, monitoring, and evaluation practices and processes
  • Knowledge of First Nations education needs and systems
  • Basic knowledge of Curve Lake and its business policies and processes
  • Knowledge of elementary educational systems
  • Strong planning, organizational and coordination skills and ability to manage complex projects
  • A demonstrated ability to work with students in a culturally sensitive community setting
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to lead a team of students
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications and computer skills
  • Fluent in Ojibwe is an asset

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a Full Time Permanent part-time position beginning August 19th, 2024. Annual range for this position is $52,791 – $56,310 based on a 24-hour work week.
