Job Description

  • Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems: Troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of components on truck and trailer refrigeration units.
  • Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system: Maintaining transport refrigeration unit on trucks and trailers by performing diagnostics using scanners, electronic test equipment, and on-board computers, completing preventive maintenance, component replacement, and service to refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintain and repair equipment in refrigerated trucks: Maintains transport truck and trailer refrigeration units and track APU’s by reviewing shop orders, listening to operator complaints.
  • Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems:  Repairing failures; removing, replacing, testing Freon leaks, assembling, and installing parts and components involving soldering, welding and the use of refrigeration equipment.
  • Install refrigeration systems: Installing various units on trailers, trucks, and Vans
  • Drive to different client’s locations in NB and NS.

Requirements

– Education: Completion of high school is required

– Experience: Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in mechanics is required.

– A valid ‘G’ driver’s license is required.

– Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate is required. If the candidate does not have an ODP card, he/she must be eligible to obtain one.

– Work conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Physically demanding; Handling heavy loads up to 75 lbs; Manual dexterity; Attention to detail; Bending, crouching, kneeling.

– Work Site Environment: Dusty, noisy, Cold, hot, at heights

– Personal suitability: Dependability, reliability, judgement, team player, accurate, organized.

– Language: English is required

Salary: $30 per hour, 40-44 hours per week.
