ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice-President, People (VP) will manage our HR Group Leads, HR Generalist, and Marketing Manager as well as other People, HR and Marketing roles as applicable. The role integrates human resources management, marketing, and business development to enhance organizational performance in support of the firm’s strategic objectives. As a strategic leader and trusted advisor to the OKT leadership, the VP drives innovation and operational excellence in both people management and brand development. They also oversee key functions related to talent acquisition, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, organizational development, marketing strategies, and business development.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in human resources leadership, with extensive experience in developing and implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. They have a proven ability to design programs that enhance employee engagement, foster professional development, and promote retention. They also possess a thorough understanding of compensation and benefits.

The ideal candidate also possesses experience in marketing and business development and has demonstrated success in crafting and executing marketing strategies that enhance brand reputation and drive growth, with particular skills in digital marketing, campaign management, and client engagement. Experience with business development activities, such as market research, client relationship management, and proposal development, is critical.

As a seasoned leader with a track record of managing cross-functional teams and mentoring employees at all levels, they have the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. The ideal candidate also possesses exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to align departmental goals with organizational objectives.

Requirements

The VP, People will ideally possess the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. An industry-recognized professional designation will be considered an asset
  • A minimum of seven years in senior human resources leadership roles. Experience in a law firm or legal organization is considered a strong asset
  • Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and leading strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and retain high-performing teams
  • Experience managing diverse teams and promoting collaboration across departments
  • Proven ability to advise senior leaders and contribute to organizational strategy
  • Proficiency in HR and marketing technologies, tools, and systems
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data for decision-making
  • Experience in leading marketing functions will be considered an asset.
