Auditor General Tables 2012 Update on Prior Years’ Report Recommendations

Terry Paddon, Auditor General of Newfoundland and Labrador, today tabled his 2012 Update on Prior Years’ Report Recommendations with the House of Assembly.
The report contains details of the implementation status of 608 recommendations made in Reports on Reviews of Departments and Crown Agencies from 2007 to 2010.
The Office of the Auditor General has the following goals regarding the implementation of recommendations made in prior reports:
1. At least 80 per cent of our recommendations would be acted upon (either fully implemented, otherwise resolved or partially implemented) within one year of our report date.
- This goal has been met as 84 per cent of recommendations made in 2010 have been acted upon.
2. At least 80 per cent of our recommendations would be fully implemented or otherwise resolved within two years of our report date.
- This goal has not been met as only 76 per cent of recommendations made in each of 2008 and 2009 have been fully implemented or otherwise resolved.
3. At least 90 per cent of our recommendations would be fully implemented or otherwise resolved within four years of our report date.
- This goal has been met as 90 per cent of recommendations made in 2007 have been fully implemented or otherwise resolved.
