CNA’s Hill Day 2025: Nurses Champion a Healthier Future for Canadians
Ottawa, November 25, 2025 — The Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) is on Parliament Hill November 25-26 at a pivotal moment for Canada’s health system. While the country continues to navigate significant health workforce pressures, this moment also presents an opportunity for transformative action. Nurses bring forward practical, cost-effective, and evidence-based solutions that can strengthen access to care, stabilize the workforce, and reinforce the sustainability of Canada’s publicly funded health system. CNA’s advocacy is focused on turning these solutions into progress, working with policymakers to advance the innovations and partnerships that will help shape a stronger health system for all Canadians.
Building on the momentum of CNA’s ongoing meaningful conversations, CNA’s Hill Day 2025 will advocate for critical change, including advocating on CNA priorities that include:
- Improving access and quality of care
- Optimizing the nursing workforce
- Advancing labour mobility and regulatory harmonization
- Federal-provincial-territorial leadership
“As we meet with policymakers during CNA’s Hill Day, nurses are focusing on what will make the greatest impact for Canadians,” said Kimberly LeBlanc, president of CNA. “Improving access and quality of care, unlocking the full potential of the nursing workforce, and advancing labour mobility through regulatory harmonization all depend on strong federal–provincial–territorial leadership.”
Dr. Valerie Grdisa, CEO of CNA, added, “CNA’s annual Hill Day is a cornerstone of national advocacy, bringing the voice and expertise of nurses to Parliament to inform and influence federal decision-makers. Nurses know what works, and the nursing voice is essential to shaping effective, people-centred policy solutions.
As the Canadian Nurses Association sets out on its Hill Day, nursing leaders will engage in constructive dialogue with federal lawmakers to advance national health priorities. These discussions will emphasize the importance of strengthening health system efficiency, investing in the nursing profession, and optimizing nurses’ roles in care delivery. CNA urges all levels of government to collaborate with nurses to build a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable health-care system.
CNA continues its ongoing commitment to ensuring all Canadians have access to the care and supports they need.
