Community Notice: Jordan’s Principle Funding Changes and Reimbursement Guidelines
Community Notice: Jordan’s Principle Funding Changes and Reimbursement Guidelines
July 7th, 2025 OHSWEKEN, ON – Please be advised that the Six Nations Jordan’s Principle office or Six Nations of the Grand River (SNGR) cannot fulfill Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) approvals from previous fiscal years (prior to March 31, 2025). However, we can fulfill ISC approvals for the current fiscal year (April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026) and reimburse approved services with receipts from the approved time period.
This is a direction from ISC and is effective immediately due to recent operational changes. This will be ongoing, and approved services must be used within the specified timeframe and before the end of the current fiscal year.
For this reason, we advise all Jordan’s Principle clients to hold onto receipts, so that we may reimburse them within the approved timeframes.
Each year, SNGR submits a Service Access Resolution Funding (SARF) budget to ISC to operate and reimburse approved services. These funds are held in the community for ISC approved applications only, with unspent funds returned to ISC. The new operational bulletin by ISC has removed our ability to provide emergency supports, assistance for families awaiting decisions, and support for approvals outside the current fiscal year.
We understand that this direction will deeply impact some families. While these directions are beyond our control, we remain committed to advocating for children in the community and will continue to assist families with applications and accessing approved services within specified timeframes.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please contact the Jordan’s Principle office at: 1-855-572-4453.
