Community Notice: Update on State of Emergency and Remediation Initiatives for Iroquois Village

For Immediate Release: September 23rd, 2025 OHSWEKEN, ON – Six Nations of the Grand River (SNGR) remains under a State of Emergency following the flooding on June 18, 2025.

An Industrial Hygienist Assessment of Iroquois Lodge was received on July 25, 2025, and has confirmed significant black water damage throughout the facility. After reviewing the extent of the impacts, and in consultation with residents, families, and staff, it has been determined that residents will remain in Delhi while a new Iroquois Lodge is built.

To support community connections, shuttle service is being explored as an option for community members wishing to visit loved ones at the Delhi location.

The Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) also reports that some of the other damaged community buildings have returned to operation. In addition, Jay Silverheels Residents are expected to move back into the facility on September 29, 2025.

The EOC wishes to thank all staff, residents, and families affected by the flooding. To our residents who were displaced–your patience, resilience, and understanding during this challenging time are greatly appreciated. To our staff and caregivers—your commitment and tireless efforts to support and protect residents have been nothing short of remarkable.
