In a world where fast fashion dominates, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) and the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) are teaming up this Sunday, April 14, to showcase the benefits and beauty of sustainable fashion.

Beginning at 11 a.m., visitors can immerse themselves in interactive games and informative displays that shed light on the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion. This eye‐opening experience will inspire attendees to make more conscious, sustainable choices when it comes to their clothing.

Three dynamic Manitoba designers – Andréanne Mulaire Dandeneau, Lennard Taylor and Sarah Sue – will share their insights on creating sustainable clothing and model their latest collections during a fun fashion show. Discover how these designers are redefining the fashion landscape through their commitment to ethical and environmentally conscious practices.

Following the fashion show, visitors can learn new tricks to reinvigorate their old garments. Hands‐on demonstrations will cover sewing and mending, dyeing using environmentally friendly dyes and beading clothes – equipping attendees with the skills to breathe new life into their wardrobes.

“Every year, mountains of cast‐off clothing end up in landfills, and much of it is made from fabrics that don’t break down,” said Leslie Kirkness, Sustainability and Inclusion Specialist at MCIC. “This event is a chance for people to discover the benefits of sustainable fashion and learn how to extend the life of their clothes, ultimately reducing waste and supporting a more ethical industry.”
