Cowichan Tribes members vote to create their own education system – Times Colonist

It’s the next step in the process after a January 2022 agreement with the federal government to allow Cowichan Tribes to run their own education system.

Cowichan Tribes members have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new education law that would allow them to create an education system for their children.

Eighty-nine per cent of the 307 votes cast were in favour. Voting took place online starting Sept. 22 and in-person on Oct. 9.

It’s the next step in the process after a January 2022 agreement with the federal government to allow Cowichan Tribes to run their own education system.
