The Honourable Chris Tibbs, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Climate Change, has announced the following relative to Environmental Assessment – Part 10 – of the Environmental Protection Act.
Undertaking Registered:
Crown District 21 Five-Year Forestry Operating Plan Amendment (2022-2026)
Proponent: Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands (Reg. 2376)
The proponent is proposing to amend the Forest Management District 21 Five-Year Operating Plan (2022–2026) for the Charlottetown area in Labrador to reduce the risk of wildfire. The proposal would involve expanding the Charlottetown Domestic Cutting Block to allow domestic wood cutting as a means of lowering fuel loads around the community. The amendment would cover approximately 2,233 hectares of productive forest land.

The undertaking was registered on November 21, 2025. The deadline for public comment is December 26, 2025, and the minister’s decision is due by January 5, 2026.
