The businesses, eateries, galleries and bars of downtown Sarnia will once again be throwing open their doors on July 5, welcoming one and all to take part in an evening filled with live music, colourful exhibitions and delectable food as part of July’s First Friday cultural walkabout.
To encourage more people to congregate downtown during First Friday festivities, parking lots are free after 6 p.m. and bike racks are aplenty for those who decide to cycle.
At the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts (127 Christina St. S), visual art and poetry will take centre stage. From 6 to 9 p.m. the gallery will host the opening of Hot Stuff/Cool Waters, an exhibition created by Lawrence House’s members as well as a special exhibit by Marlem Ramires Ruiz entitled Mexican Dreams. Upstairs in the centre’s Turret Room, spoken word poetry will be king from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tamracks Anthology celebration, which will be hosted by writer James Deahl.
