The Tzu Chi Foundation has expanded its free traditional Chinese medicine clinics to the Sumas First Nation.
About 40 members of the Abbotsford band were treated by six TCM doctors Saturday as part of the band’s community wellness day, said the foundation.
The charity’s involvement was part of its outreach efforts to build relationships with First Nations, said Tom Torng, public relations director for the foundation.
“We offer TCM treatments and also want to share information about the TCM College to encourage the young generation to study TCM,” he said, adding many of the members at Saturday’s clinic were open to the concept of traditional Chinese medicine which involves herbal medicine, acupuncture and massage.
