Government of Yukon Carbon Pricing Rebate program to end following federal program termination
On March 14, 2025, the federal government cancelled the federal consumer carbon pricing program, effective April 1, 2025. As a result, the Yukon’s revenue-neutral carbon rebate program is ending.
Yukon residents received their final rebate payment on April 4, 2025. Yukon First Nations governments and municipalities received their final payments on March 31 and April 1, respectively, while Yukon businesses will receive their final payments with their latest tax return for tax years ending March 31, 2025, or earlier.
Quick facts
- By March 31, 2025, the Yukon’s carbon rebate program will have returned approximately $130 million to individuals, businesses, municipalities and First Nations – ensuring revenue neutrality while supporting emissions reductions.
- The carbon rebate year for individuals ran from July 1 to June 30, with quarterly payments issued in July, October, January and April. The final rebate was issued in April, ensuring all amounts owed were returned before the benefit year ends in June 2025.
