Halifax Regional Municipality seeking applicants for internship program

The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking applicants for 14 paid internships as part of its Bridging the Gap program.

The Bridging the Gap program has offered 102 graduates up to 18 months of paid internship with various business units of the municipality since 2013.

The program is designed to provide recent graduates opportunities to work in a municipal government structure, with exposure to government policy, program operations, administration and finance. Interns gain experience in their field and increase their chances of finding future employment in Nova Scotia.

In 2019, the municipality is hiring interns for the following positions:

• Regulatory Modernization Intern – Corporate & Customer Services
• Archives Assistant Intern – Municipal Clerk’s Office
• Accommodations Service Improvement Intern – Finance Asset Management/ICT
• Audit Program Intern – Finance Asset Management/ICT
• Emergency Management Critical Infrastructure Intern – Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency
• Community Safety Intern – Parks & Recreation
• Coordinator Intern – North American Indigenous Games
• Community Planning and Urban Design Intern – Planning & Development
• Planning Archivist Intern – Planning & Development
• Current Planning Intern – Planning & Development
• Climate Change Intern – Planning & Development
• Transportation Demand Management Intern – Planning & Development
• Communications Assistant Intern – Halifax Regional Police
• Process and Policy Analyst Intern – Transportation and Public Works

In order to be eligible for the program, candidates must:

• Have a post-secondary education at the university or community college level
• Have graduated within 36 months
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada for the length of the term
• Meet the minimum qualification of the position
• Be a resident of Nova Scotia or attended a Nova Scotia university or college, with a strong interested in seeking employment in Halifax preferred

La Municipalité régionale d’Halifax est à la recherche de candidats pour 14 stages payés dans le cadre de son programme « Bridging the Gap »

Ce programme a offert à 102 étudiants diplômés jusqu’à 18 mois de stage payé au sein de différentes unités fonctionnelles de la municipalité depuis 2013.

Le programme est conçu pour fournir aux étudiants récemment diplômés la possibilité de travailler dans une structure de gouvernement municipal avec de l’exposition aux politiques gouvernementales, à l’exploitation des programmes, à l’administration et à la finance. Les stagiaires obtiendront de l’expérience dans le domaine et augmenteront leurs chances de trouver un emploi en Nouvelle-Écosse à l’avenir.

• Stagiaire de sécurité communautaire – Récréation et parcs
• Stagiaire de coordination – Jeux autochtones de l’Amérique du Nord
• Stagiaire de planification communautaire et d’aménagement urbain – Planification et développement
• Stagiaire de planification des archives – Planification et développement
• Stagiaire de planification courante – Planification et développement
• Stagiaire du changement climatique – Planification et développement
• Stagiaire de la gestion de la demande du transport – Planification et développement
• Stagiaire assistant aux communications – Service de police régional d’Halifax
• Stagiaire analyste des processus et des politiques – Transports et travaux publics

Afin d’être admissibles au programme, les candidats doivent :

• Posséder un diplôme d’études postsecondaires de niveau universitaire ou collégial;
• Être diplômé depuis moins de 36 mois;
• Être légalement autorisés à travailler au Canada pour la durée du stage;
• Satisfaire les qualifications minimales du poste;
• Être un résident de la Nouvelle-Écosse ou avoir fréquenté une université ou un collège de la Nouvelle-Écosse avec, de préférence, un intérêt solide dans la recherche d’un emploi à Halifax.
