The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking input from residents on proposed socio-economic mitigation strategies for the Mackenzie Valley Highway Project.

A public meeting will be held in Tulita to provide an update on the project and discuss the socio-economic mitigation measures proposed for the project. This meeting will also provide an important opportunity for residents to provide feedback. Door prizes and dinner will be provided.

When: Tuesday, May 14, 2024

6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: Tulita Community Arena

Additional meetings will be held in May and June in other Sahtu communities.

Feedback collected at those sessions and by email will inform the development of the Community Readiness Strategy for the MVH Project.

The MVH project is a proposed two-lane gravel highway, approximately 321km in length that will extend north from Wrigley to Norman Wells. An all-season road is anticipated to provide improved access between communities and provide more social and recreational opportunities. It is also anticipated to provide local employment and business opportunities associated with construction of the road and once the road opens.
