Information night coming up for wind power: R.M. of Weyburn, Griffin to host – Discover Weyburn

The R.M. of Weyburn and the R.M. of Griffin will be hosting an information night on July 17th to help the community learn more about a wind power project coming to the area.

In late June, the Saskatchewan Indigenous Investment Finance Corporation (SIIFC) pledged up to one hundred million dollars in loan guarantees for a new renewable wind energy project to be built southeast of Weyburn. In agreement with with six Indigenous and Metis partners, Enbridge Inc. has joined with SaskPower to advance the project through a power purchase agreement.

The Open House will be held on Wednesday, July 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ramada in Weyburn.

“It’s new to the area, and I would encourage anybody that have questions or whatever that come out and ask away,” said Reeve for the R.M. of Weyburn, Norm McFadden.
