The Housing Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to remind Kahnawa’kehró:non that the deadline to apply for the Indigenous Services Canada (ISC)-Child and Family Services Renovation Program is Friday, January 31, 2025.

The program is designed to support owner-occupied households with children and youth by addressing substandard housing conditions that may pose health and safety risks. The program offers grants of up to $40,000 per family.

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry
  • Be the homeowner occupying the house
  • Have at least one dependent (child or youth up to 26) living in the house full-time. Applicants sharing custody are eligible but must provide proof
  • Require major repairs, have substandard or deficient housing, or face issues such as overcrowding or conditions posing health and safety risks to children or special needs, if applicable

This initiative aims to improve living conditions for children and youth in the community. Don’t miss this opportunity to access funding for essential home repairs that prioritize the safety and well-being of young residents. In this initial year, 15 families are being targeted, with plans to expand the program in subsequent years.
