News media are invited to join the City of Edmonton and organizing partners, Esquao, the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women (IAAW), for this year’s Sisters in Spirit Day event.
Date: Friday, October 4
Time: 1:30 p.m. (Doors open at 1 p.m.)

Sisters in Spirit Day (October 4) is recognized to honour the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse people, support grieving families and loved ones, and create opportunities for community healing. Participants are encouraged to wear blue at the event to show support.
The event will feature guest speaker Kari Thomason from Edmonton Police Service, messages from the City of Edmonton, IAAW and the Premier’s Council on MMIWG2S+ People, and a moment of silence to pay respects to victims and their loved ones.
